What is Color Guard?
Color Guard is a team of performers who use movement and equipment to interpret the music and enhance the visual performance of the Marching Band. The Color Guard functions as part of the marching band, providing the visual impact to complement the music. Performers use equipment (Flags, non-funtional rifles, sabres, props, etc) and Body Movement (Dance), to add visual impact and enhance the overall performance.
What am I signing up for?
These clinics/open gyms are designed to provide basic instruction for the skills we use in color guard. No experience is necessary - all you need is a positive attitude and willingness to try something new. We’ll teach you everything you need to know. There is no commitment to join for the 2021 Fall Marching season until the Final Clinic, when we post the final list of 2021 Fall Colorguard Members. Come to the first clinic, see what it’s all about, decide that it’s awesome, then bring a friend to the next one!
A season of Color Guard is committing to:
Summer Band Camp (1-2 weeks, M-F, before school starts)
Monday and Thursday Rehearsals
Friday Football Games
Saturday Marching Competitions (4-5 Saturdays from late September through late October/Early November)
Spring Clinics in preparation for the 2022 Marching Season
What do I need to bring with me?
An Open, Positive Attitude! We’ll provide everything you need equipment-wise, but we ask that you wear comfortable, school appropriate, fitted active wear and tennis shoes. You will also want to bring a refillable water bottle.
If you are aware of schedule conflicts, please let us, Mr. Carrington and Mrs. Fisher, know as soon as possible. The earlier we know about conflicts, the easier it is to prepare and find a solution!
